Establish an Airport

To establish an airport in Maryland:

Obtain FAA airspace approval
Complete FAA Form 7480-1 (PDF)
Obtain local county zoning approval
Contact your local zoning office. See below or click here to see a list of local zoning offices.
Complete an Application for Airport License/Registration
Pass a safety inspection from the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA)

We will assist in the initial site inspection.
We will provide a recommendation letter, as appropriate
We will conduct a final airport inspection if all other requirements have been met and the site is ready for use.
A State license or registration will be issued after meeting all requirements of the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), Chapter 4.
