The State of Maryland has no registration requirements for an aircraft. However, the aircraft must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). For information on FAA registration requirements, click here.

Maryland does impose a 6% sales tax on the purchase price of aircraft. Telephone assistance is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EDT

The State of Maryland has a minimum insurance requirement for aircraft operating in the state, similar to motor vehicle insurance. The completed aircraft insurance verification form should be kept by the aircraft owner and presented to Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) or airport officials upon request.
